EXPLORE POLLUXTOOLA closer look at the tools.
A browser hex editor built around understanding binary values, comparing files and working with checksums.
01Open, edit and save binary data
Open raw binary files, create a file from scratch, or work with Intel HEX, Motorola S-record and DDI imports where your plan allows them. Structured imports validate record checksums and preserve address segments without allocating every byte in a large address gap.
Choose overwrite or insert, edit hex or ASCII, paste repeated patterns, fill or clear ranges, insert or delete bytes, undo or redo, and restore original data. Saves and downloads use your chosen file format; binary data stays on your device.
02See what the bytes mean
Switch between 8-Bit, 16-Bit and 32-Bit cells, big or little endian, unsigned and signed decimal, hexadecimal and floating point. The data inspector interprets the active bytes in several formats; the visual data overview helps locate populated blocks.
Value colours show magnitude. Blank-run dimming reduces noise without hiding comparison differences. Bookmarks, search results and checksum marks have clear boundaries; navigation keeps an already visible target in place.
03Compare two files and transfer selected bytes
Free Simple comparison checks bytes at matching addresses; a temporary right-file shift changes the comparison without relocating saved data. Pro comparison can resynchronise matching blocks around inserted or deleted data. Results list equal, different, inserted and deleted blocks.
Both files share width, format, byte order and comparison display controls, starting from the left file. Apply a shift or change those value settings to compare again. Ordinary byte edits keep the last Simple result until Recompare. N and V navigate ranges. In Simple comparison, select destination bytes and transfer from the named other file as one undoable change. Minimise a file or the results while keeping comparison active.
04Find values, strings and byte patterns
Find hexadecimal byte patterns, navigate matches and review all results in a list. Where enabled, search for immediate numeric values or strings in supported encodings. Saved recent searches make repeated inspection quicker.
Preview replacements before accepting them. Search results can become bookmarks or help define checksum coverage. Long searches run away from the main editor interaction, with cancellation and stale-result checks.
05Give addresses a useful structure
Name locations and ranges, add notes and colours, organise groups and sort by name, address, length, value or type. Save bookmarks and checksum zones together in a bookmark file or import supported bookmark formats.
Import review can shift all addresses or put the first bookmark at zero, then verify ranges and checksums before accepting them. Pro adds typed value interpretation, defined values and inverted copies. Calibration maps add tables and axes where enabled by your plan.
06Calculate, verify and maintain checksums
Calculate enabled CRCs, sums, XORs and hashes for selected defined bytes. Check matching stored values and their byte order. Define checksum zones with separate covered data and storage ranges, verify their stored result and choose automatic updates.
All current algorithm names are visible. Basic calculates 8-bit results and all hashes. Wider CRCs, sums and XORs require Pro. The complete catalogue is generated from the current editor definitions at each build. Custom CRCs and supported account algorithms extend the built-in list. Device-named algorithms can have length and storage constraints; a numerical match alone does not identify a file format.
07Investigate unknown checksums
Pro checksum discovery searches for possible algorithm and coverage relationships. Review the evidence, ranked matches and discarded candidates before accepting zones. CRC parameter recovery can compare multiple samples and search supported CRC widths.
These are investigation tools. A candidate still needs independent validation against known original files and the system that consumes them. The documentation explains samples, coverage and the limits of a match.
08Automate repeatable work
The Pro script workbench runs JavaScript against a captured byte selection and supports an experimental iProg Lua buffer adapter. Account scripts can be saved and reused. The public manual documents the buffer APIs, examples and host-compatibility limits.
Scripts run in an isolated worker with execution and patch limits, without network or browser access. Review the proposed byte changes before applying them; a script is not given direct access to your account, local disk or the whole application.
09Repeat bookmark and checksum templates
Select a complete block and choose Bookmarks → New template or press Ctrl+T. A template can contain several bookmarks and checksum zones. Use the Templates tab inside Bookmarks to apply it at another address, or drag its blue corner handle to preview repeated blocks. Template definitions and copies are saved in .ptmap files.
Copies preserve groups and their own bytes. Their settings point back to the master; changing a master definition updates its copies. Optional linking sets corresponding values together, adds the same numeric difference, or applies the same percentage change. Unsupported types remain independent in numeric modes. Ordinary edits update only affected checksum zones and their dependencies in workers; Save and Export check every enabled zone. Touching checksum data and storage can also be repeated independently with a green corner handle or Repeat checksum blocks. Verify first, skip problematic blocks, or explicitly recalculate mismatches. Invalid templates pause linking until repaired.
10Start with a free account
Registration is open. Create a free account with your email and an optional name. Opening the email link verifies the account automatically. Use the Basic tools within the account limits. Your account page shows current access, limits and optional Pro purchases.
Keep the account secure with the available password, authenticator and passkey controls. Display settings can be saved for your device; bookmark definitions and supported account content have their own saving controls. Read the privacy policy, terms and licence before use.
